A personal letter

Hey, I’m Yuri.

Why I built OurStoria

I started filming weddings several years ago. Like every videographer I made a checklist of what the business needs — contracts, invoices, client meetings, a polished package. What really wins people over, of course, is the quality of the film and your shooting style. Everything else is the supporting cast.

But those little details are exactly what set me apart. And I had reached the final step: delivering the film to the couple. I could just dump everything on Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer, and let them download a ZIP, unzip it, watch the files. That’s what most people did.

Then I started thinking: what will the bride and groom do later, when their guests ask them for a link to the video? Send them the same Google Drive link with a ZIP and no logo on it? That’s where my marketing dies. Every guest is a future client, and word of mouth is the best advertising in this industry. I had nothing on those files saying who shot the wedding.

The compression problem

Not everyone will download the video either — laziness gets in the way. People will be reluctant to download all the photos just to flip through five. So I started looking at video delivery services, and was horrified by the prices. Yes, there are some — but the gigabytes they offer are useless. In 2026, when cameras shoot in 6K and 8K and 4K is the standard, I didn’t want to bring my bitrate down in DaVinci just to fit inside someone else’s storage tier.

YouTube? No galleries. No download. No way to bring the photos along. Vimeo? Same story. Posting separate links for photos, separate links for videos, with a ZIP archive and no live gallery and no credit to the person who shot it — that’s what the market wanted me to do.

So I built my own service

It has plenty of storage space. A hybrid gallery for both photos and videos. A mini-CRM for client onboarding. Real-time analytics so you know when the couple actually opened the gallery and how many guests watched the film. Password protection. Your own logo, colors and links. Direct downloads from the gallery in the original quality.

There are features I think a delivery platform should have — things I wished existed when I was working with clients. There’s Safe Archive for projects you can’t bring yourself to delete but don’t want eating your storage. And there’s Live Moments — a guest gallery so the wedding-day crowd can drop their photos and videos straight into your project via a QR code.

Who this is for

OurStoria is for videographers and photographers who care about quality. People who export at the highest bitrate they can afford. People who don’t want to compromise the work just because the delivery tool is slow or compressed or off-brand. If that sounds like you — this was built for you.

What’s next

I’m one person, building this in the evenings and weekends between client work. I read every email, I roll out updates almost every week, and I make changes when videographers ask me to. The roadmap is open: Live Moments is live, 12 gallery layouts are shipped. Next up — an advanced analytics dashboard, multi-language gallery support, and a client portal with review & approval workflow.

If something is missing or broken, write me directly. [email protected]. I read everything that lands in that inbox.
